Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal information under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other Canadian privacy law.

In force from: 2026-11-02

Who we are

Garvey Oral Surgery Training Ltd., located at 41 Example Street, Red Deer, AB Z0Z 0Z0, Business Number 107878704, GST account 107878704 RT 0001 (hereinafter "we") sets out in this policy the manner in which we collect, use, disclose and safeguard personal information relating to customers, individuals who reach out to us and visitors to this website.

Laws that apply

As an organization operating in the private sector in Alberta, we are governed by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where personal information crosses provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activity, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply. Our commercial electronic messages are sent in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). If these laws are amended or replaced, we will update this policy.

What we collect

  • Contact details – name, phone number, email address and, for invoices, mailing address.
  • The content of your enquiry and any details you provide about the service you need.
  • Billing details – business name, address and tax numbers, if you request an invoice.
  • Payment information – processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Website data – server logs (IP address, browser type, date and time) for security, and, with your consent only, analytics data (see Cookies below).

We collect only what is reasonably necessary for these purposes and we do not engage in the sale of personal information.

Why we use it

  • To respond to enquiries, prepare estimates and contact you about the service.
  • To carry out and document the service, handle complaints and honour warranties.
  • To keep accounting and tax records required by law.
  • To send service reminders and offers – only with your express consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Consent

We rely on your consent, which may be express (for example ticking a box on the form) or implied where the purpose is obvious – such as using your phone number to reply to your enquiry. You may withdraw consent on reasonable notice, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will tell you the likely consequences.

Marketing emails (CASL)

We send commercial electronic messages such as offers only if you have given express consent – for example by ticking the optional box on our form – or where CASL allows implied consent based on an existing business relationship. Every such message identifies Garvey Oral Surgery Training, includes our mailing address and contains a functional unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days.

Who we share it with

Personal information is shared only to the extent necessary in the following circumstances:

  • with suppliers and specialist subcontractors, to complete the service you asked for;
  • with service providers who host our website, email and accounting tools – some are located outside Canada (for example in the United States), so your information may be accessible to authorities there under their laws;
  • with government or law-enforcement bodies where the law requires or allows it.

Cookies and analytics

Strictly necessary storage remembers your cookie choice in your browser's local storage. Google Consent Mode v2 is set to “denied” by default, so no analytics or advertising cookies are set until you choose. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep it

Records are retained for the duration of your relationship with us as a customer and for up to seven years thereafter for tax and warranty purposes; enquiries that do not result in a visit are deleted within 12 months. We destroy or anonymize information we no longer need.

How we protect it

We employ reasonable security safeguards, including access restricted to staff with a legitimate need, password-protected systems and secure disposal of both paper and digital records. In the event that a privacy breach gives rise to a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as required by applicable law.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and correction of any inaccuracies it may contain. We respond in most cases within 45 days, as required by PIPA. The majority of requests are handled at no charge.

Privacy contact and complaints

Our privacy contact may be reached by email at contact@garveyoralsurgery.com. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC), which is responsible for overseeing Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) – www.oipc.ab.ca; or, where PIPEDA applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) – www.priv.gc.ca.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when the law or the tools we use change. The current version is always on this page, with the effective date shown at the top.
